[PitchRate.com] The Jig is Up!

Hey Kyle,

I recently shared that I am finally going to write a book this year. As the CEO of a PR firm, I know that having a book to establish your brand is critical -- it's basically your calling card to the media saying, "Here I am, here's what I do, and this is why you need me."

But do I have a book? Nope. Do I tell my clients all the time how important it is? Yep. Does the cobbler have time to make shoes for his own barefoot kids? Nope.

Honestly? It's not just about time. The idea of writing an actual book was totally daunting for me!

But I decided THIS is the year! I keep telling my staff that I'm writing my book, and so now I really have to do it so I don't lose face!

By the way, Heather is a freelance writer who has helped a bunch of our clients write their own books. She's a great coach and works with people like me, non-writers, all the time. What a difference!  She's just taken me through a couple of steps of her process and I already feel so much less overwhelmed about the whole thing. She actually told me to sit down and get clear FIRST on WHY I'm writing my book, and WHAT I want to say. Sounds simple right? But it was amazing - I discovered that I actually have more than one book I want to write. And that was just the beginning!

Here's one of the secrets she taught me: http://bitly.com/DrewsBookJourney

I decided to share my book writing journey with you for two reasons: #1 To share some of the processes I'm learning (which is making this project way more easy than I thought it would be) and #2 To hold my feet to the fire so I really, truly get this book I've been thinking about for SEVEN YEARS done. Really done.

So I'll share my story with you as it unfolds -- until the happy ending when I have my book in hand! If you've been wanting to write a book too, I hope what I'm sharing makes a difference for you.

Cheers,
Drew
