TRAINING THURSDAY: Author Email Mistakes to Avoid

image

Hi Kyle,

An email list can be your most effective and profitable tool to build a base of loyal fans who tell others about your book.

Here are three common mistakes authors make when they start marketing with email.

1. They email everyone in their address book from Outlook, Gmail or whatever email program they're using, even if those people didn't give the author permission to send information to them.

2. If the author isn't using an email management program, the recipient can't click on an "Unsubscribe" link and automatically remove themselves from the list. This is against federal law in the U.S.

3. They include everyone's email address in either the "To" line or the "CC" line. That means every recipient can see everyone else's addresses--and even harvest and sell them.

The good news is, there are easy ways around those problems. My friend, Publicity Expert Joan Stewart, will explain what they are when she hosts a webinar at 4 p.m. Eastern Time/1 Pacific on Thursday, Feb. 25.She'll share tips on "How to Use Email to Attract Fans, Create SuperFans & Sell More Books."

Over the last 15 years, Joan has created a loyal community of subscribers who have bought thousands of dollars in products and services. She has also received many invitations for paid speaking engagements and consulting assignments from companies and nonprofits that have subscribed to her publicity tips of the week.

Build the relationship first and sell later, she says.

I hope you'll join us on Thursday's call and come with your questions. You'll get ideas galore on how fiction and nonfiction authors can create compelling content that fans love, and how to turn fans into SuperFans who can't stand to be without anything you write or produce.

Grab your seat now before they're all taken.

Thanks!

P.S.

Do yourself a favor and mark this on your calendar. Joan has a special gift for everyone who signs onto the call five minutes early, and three little-known "super tips" for everyone who stays on until the end.
